Montmarte Labyrinth, June 22nd 2022. Public performance by Zoie Wilson and Carmen Bouyer, Montmartre, Paris, France.
Occupied since the Gallo-Roman times, Montmarte was an archaeological site for excavations of gypsum, a mineral where it's main constituents were chalk and plaster. Today, Montmartre holds a large body of water beneath it's extraordinary structure. An hommage to the monument, the three fountains found in front of the current-day cathedral pour waters from the land's breasts. The chalk labyrinth, a public art piece, is a living prayer, reminding us to source the energy deep within our own layers.
